Right-click redact

Redact a client file on Windows before you give it to your AI assistant, then restore the names in its result.

Use it for a file you want to give the assistant yourself, such as a W-2, a bank statement or last year’s return. Your original is never changed.

1. Install once

Use the download link your firm sent you. Extract the ZIP, open Proxara Redact Setup.exe and choose Install, as yourself rather than with “Run as administrator”. If Windows shows a publisher other than Jex Pearce, stop and ask your administrator.

2. Redact a file

Select one file or several in File Explorer, right-click and choose Redact. A small window shows each file’s progress, then what was removed, for example “4 SSNs, 6 names removed”, with Open and Show in folder.

The copy is saved beside the original with “ - redacted” at the end of its name. Names in the file name are replaced too.

In the originalIn the copy
A person’s or business’s nameA code such as P-7KQ2M or B-4F2KD
An SSN, ITIN or EIN[[P-7KQ2M|tin]]
An account numberA code such as A-9TQ3C
An address, email or phone number[[P-7KQ2M|address]], and so on
A date of birthThe age, such as “age 64”

Amounts, dates, forms, boxes and lines stay as they are, and the same person gets the same code every time.

3. Check the copy, then work in your assistant

Open the copy before you share it: redaction can miss a value or remove something useful. Then give it to the assistant and add one line to your request:

Keep every code, such as P-7KQ2M or [[P-7KQ2M|tin]], exactly as written.

4. Restore the names

Save the assistant’s work as a file, right-click it and choose Redact again. A copy with “ - restored” at the end of its name has the real names and numbers back. Copies made before October, with tags such as [CLIENT_V062R12S], restore the same way.

The window saysIt means
skipped - nothing to un-redactThe file has no Proxara codes. Nothing changed.
(saved names restored)Some names came from your firm’s saved records because the assistant rewrote the text. Check them.
(2 tag(s) left as tags)Some codes were edited and couldn’t be matched. Nothing is guessed.

Files it reads

PDFs (scans too), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV and text files, Outlook and .eml emails, and PNG, JPEG and TIFF pictures. It can’t read older Office files (.doc, .xls), password-protected files or QuickBooks company files; the window says what to do instead.

If something goes wrong

The window shows a short message and sometimes a code, such as WW-NET-01. Email support@proxara.ai with the message and the code, never the file.
