Redact a file with a right-click.
Some files never pass through SharePoint: a statement on your desktop, last year’s return, a stack of W-2s. Right-click one in Windows and choose Redact. A copy appears beside it with the names and numbers replaced and every figure kept.

What was removed from each file. Open the copy before you share it: detection can miss a value, and codes are not anonymity.
The names come back the same way.
Save what the assistant hands back, right-click it and choose Redact again. A copy ending in restored has the real names and numbers back. A code the assistant changed stays as a tag, and nothing is guessed.
In the copy
- A person’s or business’s name
- A code such as P-7KQ2M or B-4F2KD
- An SSN, ITIN or EIN
- A reference to the owner, without the number
- An account number
- An account code
- An address, email or phone number
- A reference to the owner
- A date of birth
- The age, such as age 64
- Amounts, dates, forms, boxes and lines
- Kept as they are. The same person gets the same code in every file.

- Each person installs it as themselves, without administrator rights, or IT pushes it through Intune.
- Files it reads
- PDFs including scans, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV and text, Outlook and .eml emails, and PNG, JPEG and TIFF pictures.
- While it works
- The file is held in memory, never on disk, and discarded within 15 minutes. The copy comes back only once it has been redacted and checked; otherwise the original stays as it was.

- Your administrators can set the firm’s Claude organization to accept only redacted copies as attachments.
